Wisdom teeth removal

Root Canal Treatment

Why should you get your wisdom teeth extracted?

From a general perspective, there is no need to extract every wisdom tooth and practitioners have gone away from the radical approach to extract every wisdom tooth.

If they are straight and aligned and there is enough room within your jaw then there is no need to extract them.

However, in most cases they are troublesome. They cause pain because they are impacted and start to dissolve the roots of the teeth in front of them.

If they cause pain and come out misaligned or they don’t have an opposing wisdom tooth in the other arch they should be extracted.

Does the procedure cause Pain?

No, it does not. You will be numbed up for the procedure or you can get a medicine that calms you down before the procedure or you can even get general anaesthesia which we are happy to organize for you.

Some people will prefer to be put to sleep but this is personal choice.

Mostly it is a small operation and the latest technology with lasers and a piezo tome help us to get them out as gentle as possible. You should not feel any pain during the procedure but you will experience some movement and pressure.

Swelling and a mild soreness for 2 days is absolutely normal but can be controlled with cold packs and over-the-counter pain killers.

Simple procedure

As you can see with our experienced practitioners that have helped hundreds of people in our community it is a straightforward procedure that can easily be done with a low risk.

How many days off do I need?

Many patients are able to return to work on day 3 of their recovery if their work is not physically demanding. However, we recommend usually 3 days for your recovery. We can organise the procedure on an early Friday morning for you so you can return to work or school on Monday.

What to expect from the removal.

The first 2 days are usually the most uncomfortable and you will have to stick to a soft diet but on day 3 most people can start eating a more substantial diet again.

With regular pain killers and cool packs you will ease the pain and you will have to stay away from physically demanding activities.
