fillings

  • Fillings

A tooth after restoration by a dental filling

Fillings are relatively common in Australia and are normally regarded as "minor dental" treatment. A filling is usually necessary when a tooth has been affected by decay or chips as a result of day-to-day function. It can also be needed as a result of trauma to the tooth.

    Materials used for fillings

There are a number of different materials available for fillings. Composite (white fillings) are used commonly nowadays. Amalgam (metal fillings) can still be used but is used only in limited situations. We also use fluoride fillings in some circumstances where the benefits of fluoride are required.

    Do I need a filling?

Whether a filling is necessary or not depends on multiple factors, such as size of the affected area, diet, oral hygiene, sensitivity and more. Preventing future pain and expense is a good reason for many people to proceed with a filling. Your best bet is to talk to a qualified dentist who can help you determine what your options are. • General Dentistry

    Best dentists in Joondalup

    What is general dentistry?

General dentistry is concerned with fixing problems relating to oral health, pain in your teeth and gums, and long-term care for your mouth. We are obliged to do what we can to get you out of pain (such as tooth aches), and then address the need for fillings, root canal treatment, hygiene therapy and more. Our dentists are also trained in identifying abnormalities in the mouth and gums, including oral cancers. It is important to remember that a lack of pain does not mean things are all fine.

    Modern dental techniques and technology

We keep up-to-date with the latest research published by the Australian Dental Association, so that we don't over-treat nor fail to recognise when treatment is needed. Additionally, we are striving to make our business more effective through the use of technology, including digital x-rays, leading dental software and converting paper to digital wherever possible.
