Looking for a way to straighten your teeth that doesn't show? We work with Invisalign Australia to provide "aligners" (near invisible braces) to the general public. Invisalign aligners are similar to the moulds used in teeth whitening, except they made in such a way that they provide pressure on the tooth or teeth that need straightening. Below is a picture of an Invisalign aligner:
The process for the average individual involves:
- A consultation with one of our dentists (free of charge) to determine eligibility
- Initial impressions to determine the basic cost of treatment and probable length
- Final Invisalign impressions and the generation of a 3D computer model showing the course of treatment
- Regular appoitnments from the start to the finish of treatment which averages between 10-18 months.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Invisalign?
Invisalign retainers are "invisible" or "hardly noticeable" unlike braces which are very obvious. This is very popular amongst adults who want to have a cosmetic improvement of their teeth but don't want to be self-conscious during the course of dental treatment. Another advantage is that braces brackets can break and require a dentist or specialist orthodontist to repair them but aligners rarely have complications.
Invisalign is not suitable in rare cases where teeth are too crowded or there are underlying jaw problems as well as teeth alignment issues. Your dentist will advise you of this after your consultation.
